Esoteric Accuracy in the Popular Culture

This little post is about the phenomena that from time to time arose my curiosity. It is about the accuracy of the occult in the pop culture in movies, TV shows. Prime example for this is the Matrix, the Star Wars Trilogy and recently coming back to the limelight, the Kung Fu TV show.
I wrote on my blog about the recent events and passing of the star of the series the late David Carradine, who past away on the 4th of this month, in Bangkok, Thailand.
So who are these silent advisors to these shows?
This largely remains a mystery but for Star Wars Joseph Campbell played a major role.

This is not to say that all pop culture accurately portrays the esoteric and mystical, some TV shows are of low budget and clearly off the mark in many ways.
Kung Fu, the TV show, however showed meticulously researched and historically accurate portray into the Shaolin Temple and the philosophy and rigors they imbued, both physically and mentally on their students.
